Impact of Climate Change on China’s Globalization The unity of the crying voices of the desperate and destitute billions has not reached a level where the world leaders can view Kurtz’s solution to be the utterly possible, only humane yet imperatively a sound one (Lindquist 1). But it is looming in the air that one day it will come to pass, not so long enough but so soon. This is particularly so when a critical study of the Tropic of Chaos is undertaken closely in so far as understanding the differences therein between the local and the global economies and by extension, the relationship between the two levels of economic engagements and inter-relationships. The challenges experienced due to climatic changes have from time to time proved to be a force to reckon when it comes to issues of humanity (Brun et al.). This is the backdrop against which fore-planning, co-operation and envisaging about the dynamics of the interconnectedness matrix of the political, social, cultural, environmental and economic systems are anchored. It is against this background that several benefits accrue as a result of globalization, with steadily increasing levels of income and the appreciable improvement in the indicators of human development. However, problems of inequity usually result due to the fact that a mixture of gainers and losers are inevitably produced. Scarce skilled personnel like the medical fraternity, economists, engineers, managers and computer specialists are drained from regions of the country where they are most wanted to regions where they anticipate handsome reward. Over the period of about a quarter of a century through which the nation of China has endeavored to embrace globalization, the leaders of this nation have purposed to intentionally hold down the standards of living of their fellow countrymen and consequently supported their dwelling in the United States. Such a well orchestrated move has defined the concept of enormous trade surplus to the tune of $1.4 million (Chirico). This numerically translates to close to $1 billion on a daily basis. This means therefore, that the treasury of the Chinese government is parked with the United States dollar notes. In essence, the whole idea is that for the past ten years each individual in the United States has somewhat borrowed money from a citizen in the nation of China to the tune of $4000. Such an economic imbalance among other problems cannot go on indefinitely. However, economic analysis reflects that in spite of the glittering witnessed in the Chinese big city dwellings and the increasing wealth acquisition among the citizens, their living standards are lower than the anticipated or potential standards. The implication of this is the fact that the nation of China consumes only a half of its total local production. There has been a convenience that both the Chinese and the United States government have continued to enjoy and therefore, there has been a general laxity on both of the sides of the government to cut such links and trade ties (Nabeshima, Kaoru, and Shahid). In the China’s economy, the economic rate of growth has been maintained in a bid to ensure that even though it grows tremendously first, it does not become uncontrollably inflationary. In contrast, the United States has seen remarkable economic benefits including low mortgage payments, reduced interest rates and consequential less tax burden. It is needful to reckon the ever growing enormous imbalance and the unfavorable political tension and the likely tearing apart of the relationship between these two economic allies. Globalization leads to a situation where the supply of goods and services is market driven and its interplay with the forces of demand having a recognizable outcome. In such a system, the needs of the consumers are predominated over by the forces of demand in play. With a little democracy added, globalization growth forces become balanced and this leads to equitable redistribution of the country’s growth achievement. Basically speaking, the major challenges that are experienced in the 21st century entail preparing for efficacy in humanitarian responses in the event that a given crisis happens and mitigating the potential risks of climatic change through channeling the economic advantages of the much needed globalization (Staur, Carsten, & Harris). Remote and interior parts of China also have their own set of challenges. One of such problems is the widespread poverty and this is eminent among most rural households. The wealth amassed in the urban dwellings of the coastal regions ought to be redistributed to the poverty stricken rural and interior regions of the country through strengthening and advancing their individual and wholesome productive capacity, infrastructure, education and health sector. The result in a well built and developed human production capacity and opened up economic opportunities in order to curb the problem of labor migration from such regions in search of better-working conditions and terms. Water is also a challenge is most of those settlement regions with one sixth of the Asian population in general lacking access to safe and clean water. The dynamics of coal and oil markets are among the key matrices of globalization. China experiences energy tensions in its economy due to increased fossil energy reliance. This effect renders China to be an energy-intensive state and therefore helps in appreciating the importance of the difficulties experienced in the energy sector. This is a problem of the much-needed globalization which continues to pose related challenges in China Below is a glimpse of the scenario of continuous globalization against the price of oil and coal worldwide. Figure 1: Increasing globalization scenario In the above graphs, it is possible to make an observation that when the international trade is less intense, oil demand can be satisfactorily moderated as a result of such favorable environment. In the long term, it is possible to lower the prices of oil by 10 percent as a result of such favorable environment (Ho and Ash). With continued globalization, it is possible to reduce international trade as a result of the rising preference for goods that have been locally produced. The result of this is the reduced dependency on fossil fuels for the operation of the transport sector. Globalization comes with a package of the consequences of tensions arising due to issues pertinent to stability of coal and oil markets which consequently leads to the sustainability challenge. The consequences have impeccable ripple tank effects on the social and economic trends in China. Labor productivity and the sum of the China’s population are very imperative in estimating the country’s national economic growth rate. This is evaluated by the gross domestic product (GDP) trends as reflected in the country (Yeung et al.). Being a major importer of oil, the Chinese economy is energy-intensive to a large extent and this makes the country vulnerable to coal and fossil fuel price fluctuations. A good reflection is mapped on the long period’s trends that are unsustainable as seen in the tensions exuded in the social and economic trajectories. The whole idea is that China makes whereas other nations take. This is because most people are found within the factories, to the tune of over 100 million. They toil irrespective of their gender to see to it that garments, cameras, among other assorted wares are produced with the central aim of export to the global market. Much of this production is concentrated in the northern part of Hong Kong at a center called Pearl River Delta in the province of Guangdong (Yang and Xiaohua). Numerically speaking, the workforce exuded here is far greater than that of the United States. This number can go over 90 million workers. About a fifth of the population in the region has jobs in the manufacturing sector. This far way beyond the United States 14 million people. One of such facilities is the known Foxconn works that is located outside Shenzhen and covers a space whose capacity is an equivalence of an international airport. About a third of a million people have sleeping slots in its dormitories, working within its assembly lines as they get their food from the cafeterias situated within the company. Therefore, China’s success in the global arena has majorly been attributed to its capacity to manufacture. Locally, such an achievement has trickled down to everyone else within the economy and to a large extent has mainly been as a result of the type of the Chinese. In conclusion, the globalization of China has majorly been as a result of its commitment to its factories. There have been sufficient public funds set aside for the building, expansion and maintenance of schools, roads and houses. With such attempts to open up remote parts of the country, majority of the rural population have access to well-paying job in an attempt to eradicate poverty. In addition, economic analysts contrast that in spite of the radiance witnessed in the Chinese big city dwellings and the tremendously increasing wealth acquisition among the Chinese, their living standards are lower than the anticipated or potential standards. The implication of this is the fact that the people’s republic of China consumes only a half of its total local production. Works Cited 窗体顶端 Brun, Cathrine, Piers M. Blaikie, and Michael Jones.
