Table of Contents Table of Contents 2 Question 3 Question--2 6 References 11 Question Why is it important for an organization to have a of ethics? The answer is that Code of ethics provides an essential channel to carry out day-to-day decision making at organizational work. It explains the foundation of an organization, its aims, standards and mainly helping your employees recognize how these foundations interpret into day to day decisions, behaviors and dealings. Some people may think that codes of ethics are intended to bound one’s actions, the most excellent codes of ethics are in fact structured to liberate and authorize people to create additional efficient judgments with greater self-confidence. An organization uses efficient code of ethics for many purposes: although two important ones are: A code of ethics should 1) explain gray areas or queries employees have regarding organizational principles and opportunists and 2) assist in building confidence and dedication. Codes of ethics are designed to increase ethical potential, Legitimize discussion regarding ethical matters, support ethical judgment, avoid bad behavior supply a foundation for enforcement, responsibility and accountability provisions (Akula, 2000). One thing that differs for IT professionals, though, is the amount and variety of codes of conduct that the IT professional may refer to in his attempt to achieve the best ethical business solution in any morally ambiguous business computing situation. In conjunction with this difference is the lack of any real teeth to the IT professionals’ codes of ethics: the codal disciplinary provisions are only as binding as the codes are, and these codes are not legally binding. As the environment of commerce produces ever additional complex, especially in the development and provision of information technology, and more global, the need for one comprehensive code of ethics for IT professionals becomes even more advisable. With the Advent of more than a few formal codes of ethics ready by various IT professionals’ relations, a more harmonized approach seems to be called for (Allmon, 1990). The Information technology has faced so many changes over the last decade. These changes include information distribution, ways of networking and so many other ways. In the same time the people using computers have started to use the computer for computational purposes. The people those are attached with the information technology field would be agreed with the analogous advancement in ethical consciousness and thoughts about related issues. There is an obvious ethical space when we are going to deal with local, national, and worldwide issues. The information revolt has produced to be a surge that threatens to overwhelm and adjust professional and human values. Organizations, and persons, consequently, would make a serious fault if they examine the information rebellion as "simply technological" (Raad, 1999). It is largely common and ethical. This potential initiates novel issues in the professional decisions on property rights, remaining rights, plagiarism, confidentiality, eavesdropping in addition to infringement of privacy. With the help of worldwide interconnections between computer networks, unenthusiastic actions happen so with out any difficulty, from time to time with no the initiators still considering the penalty that ethical subjects are made stronger (Raad, 1999). Independence of exterior is very much leveraged and overstated to the level that high-quality may come about with the configuration and sharing of information. Up till now, it go after that the cost of dishonest constrained or generally acts are consistently exaggerated (Raad, 1999). The consciousness of IT experts and the community of the ethical and common farm duties are rising. Information Technology former students, and still present IT Student, who plan to grow to be specialized in the area are required to build up a enhanced perceptive of the fundamental educational, communal, lawful, and ethical issues innate in the regulation of IT (Raad, 1999). Australian Computer Society (ACS) developed codes of ethics and practice related question: Ethical dilemma: The ethics of corporate gifts What are the issues? The issue is “as a Distributions Manager of a flour manufacturer and you have economically tight conditions, a new company for local deliveries offers you same services at a considerably cheaper rate as compared to subcontractor you at present use- have good relations with the people of subcontractors- certainly, you see a few of these people as your friends and also they are providing you good services”—now problem is “you have decide between your friendship or your company’s interest” Who are the stakeholders? In this problem your decision can affect your company’s economical conditions economical condition. If you choose low rate (new) subcontractors for local deliveries then there will be lesser rates for there services and you company will get more advantage. But on the other hand you have good relation with old subcontractors for local deliveries. If you finish business with them then there the relation between among you and subcontractors can affect. Also the business of old subcontractors can affect, so here we have three parties that can he effected by this change-over. Thus these are three stack holder of this scenario (Dilemma). Myself as a Distributions Manager of a flour manufacturer, Old subcontractors for local deliveries with high rates, New subcontractors for local deliveries with as compared to lesser rates What parts of the code of ethics of Australian Computer Society (ACS) are relevant to this problem? The following points of ACS code of ethics related to this problem: A1- you have to protect the interest of you client of he is providing you good services. A2- Think about your organization’s interest on personal or any other interest A8- provides benefit to your client if he is loyal to you. C4- you have to successfully run the business F4- you need liaison from clients also from your own crew G2- selects high performance proposals What I have to do? According to A2 of ACS code of ethic, I have to protect the company’s interest. C2 says that you have run the business in a successful way, so here I got tight economic conditions, for this I will select new subcontractors for the company’s benefit. According to G2 new subcontractors have offered better rates, so I will select their proposal. Question--2 Article selected: “Hackers hijack a half million sites in latest attack” Who is the author and where was it published? BY Gregg Keizer on Computerworld dated 13/05/2008 I have tried to choose a topic that is relevant to this topic and also a current issue. Hacking is really a big danger in this new age of online communication. Here many things are in danger, like our privacy, our valuable information, our e-commerce. So I have tried to have a look on this new hot topic of “Contemporary issues in IT”. Message of the article: here writer have try to provide an insight into the hacking attacks that have effected approximate half million web sites. This is a big number. Here this is an alarming condition, because it has created a great problem for online business and e-commerce. If this continue, then it is really difficult for the people to have an online transaction or sending any impotent information. Such as credit card number any bank account information. Here in this section I will analyze the topic that the writer has tried to preset to people. It has been surveyed that more than half a million Web sites have been conciliation in a novel encompassing of attacks that hacked areas in classify to damage and infect innocent users PCs with a multiplicity of malware, a safety examiner said today. "This is an continuing movement, with original domains popping up yet this daybreak," said Paul Ferguson, a network designer with antivirus dealer Trend Micro. "The fields are altering continually." According to Ferguson, in excess of half a million rightful Web sites have been slash by todays mass-scale assault, only the newest in a thread that goes reverse to at slightest January. All of the sites, he confirmed, are organization "phpBB," an open basis communication manager (Gregg, 2008). Ferguson didnt be familiar with how the sites were conciliation; Trend Micros examination is in development, he said. "Were not certain if its shocking pattern of phpBB or weakness. Open source uses like phpBB are likely to be under attack quite a bit" (Gregg, 2008). Company to a hacked site is forward from side to side a sequence of servers, a few obviously compromised themselves, in anticipation of the previous in the sequence is arrive at; that server then pings the PC for some one of quite a lot of vulnerabilities, as well as bugs in together Microsofts Internet Explorer and Real--Networks RealPlayer media player. If some of the vulnerabilities are there, the PC is subjugated and malware is downloaded to it (Gregg, 2008). Some of the negotiation sites have been hijacked previous to said Ferguson. "A number of had freshly been utilized for keyword explore position handling, and others to pitch counterfeit pharmaceuticals or immediately malware," he said, At the same time as other research by Trend Micro recognized the malware drumming users PCs as a alternative of the Zlob Trojan horse, Ferguson supposed that additional than just one part of malware is life form serve up. " The last huge site attack was happed fewer than 3 weeks before, when sites that incorporated government URLs in the United Kingdom and a number of area operate by the UN were hacked. At the occasion, a number of researchers supposed that bugs in Microsofts SQL Server or Internet Information Services (IIS) server s/w was to responsibility. A few days later, though, Microsoft deprived of blame. Dont anticipate the scuttle of website virus to end anytime rapidly, said Trend Micros Ferguson. "As extended as harass are joined to site growth and as extended as sites dont safe their content, well see these attacks," he said (Gregg, 2008). Computer hacking is widespread and impacts the results of work done by many people throughout the world. This impact is mostly negative. According to the CERT statistics, the number of reported incidents was about 82,000 in 2002 (http://www.cert.org/stats/cert_stats.html#incidents). It is widely believed that many takedowns are not reported (or unnoticed), and thus the harm is even greater. On the daily basis IT specialists, usually grouped in institutions, advisories and associations, develop and update computer security methods. Technical tools are combined with juridical means, i.e. prosecution of hackers whose responsibility is proved. Nevertheless, these activities are far from perfect: security tools are not unbreakable, and any data put on the web is unsafe. Thus, technical and juridical methods of preventing computer crime are not satisfactory (Hafner, et al, 1992). Here writer has talked about different ways how a hacker can intrude in to your system or try to damage/ change / misuse your data. Like here he talked about the different viruses: that are passed by some mail or message to any user. They penetrate into your system and damage your stored data. Here also a way of hacking is sending the user a wrong message by any well known company and tiring to get the valuable data/ information from the user (like credit card information) and then using this for wrong means. Agree or disagree with the message? I agree with the message that the writer of this article has tried to pass on, because the number of attacks the other way, domestic to foreign, is less although the damage is likely to have been just as significant. This accounts for the high level of professional online crime being perpetrated from locations in the Far East, for example on credit card systems and online fraud around the world. Another interesting fact is the level of warfare between domestic gangs that has gone from the streets to being online. Intrusions and incidents between the sites of domestic gangs and into Far East companies are high. Online warfare is sophisticated with gangs being trained as professional hi-tech hackers (Rebecca, 2000). So it is finalized that these attacks are getting frequency that is wrong sign. We all even government have danger from this types of attacks. So this is a really Contemporary issue in IT. References 1. Akula, J.
