Extract of sample "Corporatocracy by Perkins"

Generally, there are a number of recommended actions at the end of Perkins's book that can be undertaken by individuals in order to put a stop to the rising corporatocracy and develop a more prosperous and peaceful world. Throughout the book, Perkins describes Corporatocracy as a group of business individuals and leaders who use their influence to control governments and the media in their quest to continue exploiting the rest of the world. In this regard, the ruthlessness, as well as greed of the corporatocracy practices, only serve to advance their selfish interests at the expense of the environment and the citizens at large. Despite the negative effects of corporatocracy on world peace, social equality, and environmental conservation, Perkin concludes the book by suggesting a number of actions that can be taken by individuals and organizations to help stop the domination of culture and environmental destruction by the rising corporatocracy.

Some of the actions that can be taken by individuals to stop corporatocracy include rejecting philosophical and commercial materialism, taking up trade, and finally being re-empowered to make key decisions regarding their lives, families, and communities (Perkins, 319). In my opinion, all these actions are important because they will empower individual citizens to rise above the exploitation by the corporate. Additionally, some of these actions such as re-empowering individuals and rejecting materialism can help nurture world peace, preserve our environment and ensure social equality. As a youth, one of the actions that I can take is to take up trade to gain self-sufficiency. This is particularly a sustainable future generation that depends on how we effectively use our energy, imagination, and creativity to achieve self-sufficiency and overcome the horrific injustices of corporatocracy.
