The building to be constructed will be 400 square meters. There will be the need to create the right execution plan in order to achieve success in the performance of duties and availing the required resources. The execution plan will also enable understanding when the construction of the building will be complete thus enabling the owner to use it for his own purposes. Executive Summary of the Project In this Project Execution Plan (PEP), the main components are scope of the project so that the project contractors do not undertake a task that deviates from the expectation of the client. The PEP also illustrates the expected starting and finishing dates of various activities when the project execution begins. Another area that the plan focuses on is the work breakdown structure to be followed during the construction of the house. In addition, Responsibility Assignment Matrix (RAM) will be used to determine the manner in which various activities will be assigned to respective individuals. Furthermore, various project management tools such as Work Break Structure (WBS) and Gantt Chart are explained. The duration for specific tasks and the time of their completion is illustrated and the estimates of costs during execution from the beginning to the end of the project are also provided. This is important in enabling the client set aside enough funds that facilitate the execution of the project. The PEP also provides the manner in which computerized planning will be done. This includes the use of a number of computer applications to create Gantt Chart and the PDM Diagram for the project Stage 1: Preliminary Planning Work Project Scope The scope of this project will involve a focus on the requests of the client and prevention f deviation from the recommendations. For instance, the size of the house will be maintained at an area of 400 square meters and the materials used during the project will be those preferred by the client. The budgeting will be estimated according to the ability of the client to fund the project and various professionals will be subcontracted for the purpose of executing a number of tasks during the execution of the project tasks. List of assumptions used in the project The main assumption during this project is that all the required materials will be provided to the people involved in the construction of the house and there will be no stoppage of construction activities due to unavailability of materials. It is also assumed that the professionals involved in the performance of various tasks during the project will have the right qualifications that enable them undertake the execution activities. Another assumption during the implementation of the project I that the location where the building will be constructed is well-served with various forms of infrastructure such as transport and communication to enable coordination of tasks. Planning methodology The technique that will be involved in the delivery of the project will involve a number of activities to be executed and the schedule for the acquisition of materials to be used during the actual construction. It also illustrates the manner in which various tasks will be shared among the project team and the timing of the actual activities to ensure the project is completed within the expected time schedule. The materials will be used to construct the building and the services of the commissioning organization will be sought before handing over the project to the client. This is a matrix that will determine the person to be consulted, the person to be held accountable for each task undertaken, the person to be informed upon completion of a specified task. In addition, costs will be incurred in the payment of laborers such as those involved in the actual construction activities. The following areas of expenditure show the estimated cost of the project from the beginning to the end. Budget to be used during the execution of the project A Risk Register to Identify and Prioritize all Risk Associated with this Project Risks that may affect the accomplishment of the objectives of the project can be categorized into financial and non financial risks. Financial risks are those that may result when expenses are incurred in an activity that is less beneficial to the objectives of the building or do not meet the intentions of the project. An example of a financial risk may be the occurrence of an event that is of negative impact to an employee at the construction site or the project manager. The risks register will enable establishment of the potential risks so that measures of countering them can be determined. It will also enable classification of the risks based on severity so that measures are put in place to address the most significant risks. The following risk register will be used to manage risks and conduct activities with the focus on preventing any possible risks during the execution of the project. Risk register in which various risks will be classified during the execution of the project Sub-contractors Schedule for the Project A number of subcontractors will be assigned roles of contributing to the completion of the project. For instance, Excavation Company will be contracted to undertake the task of excavation the foundation for the building, designers will be subcontracted to enable creation of designs that meet the client’s requirements and procurement companies will be subcontracted to supply various materials required during the construction of the building. Lastly, mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems of the building will be subcontracted to the respective professionals so that they can execute the roles of incorporating these components into the building. The following is a summary of subcontractors and their role during the project. Stage 2: Computerized Planning Computerized planning will involve the use of modern technologies such as computers to determine organize the manner in which activities are undertaken during the project execution. In order to achieve the objectives of computerized planning, the following activities will be undertaken. A list of tasks and work breakdown schedule for the project The main tasks to be performed will be entered into a computer and their expected duration determined based on the estimation of the project manager. Computer software such as Ms Project will be used to track the progress of activities and the people responsible for their execution. In the case of the house to be constructed, the following tasks and their corresponding duration will be entered into the computer system. Project Calendar Project calendar will begin from the moment the surveying of the site for the building begins until the actual building has been constructed. The performance of tasks will be in compliance with the set limits in the project calendar so that the project is completed within the expected time of completion. The project calendar to be used during execution of the project will be as shown in Table 1. A PDM Diagram and a Gantt chart The PDM diagram to be used during the project will be as shown in figure 3. The importance of the PDM diagram is that it will enable understanding the earliest possible start times (ES) of various activities and their corresponding earliest finish times (EF). It will also enable understanding the possible latest start times (LS) and the corresponding latest finish times (LF) so that the project manager can determine whether some activities can be crashed to ensure compliance of the project to the time schedule for its completion. The Gant Chart to be used during the project will show the manager in which activities are carried out in terms of the start date, the preceding activities and the progress of an activity. It will also be used to allocate resources for various tasks during the project. The Gantt chart to be used during the project will be as follows. This will involve an illustration of the accomplishment of tasks in each day of the week. The weekly Gantt chart will be similar to the one illustrated in the figure below. The resources that will be needed are those materials that will need to be purchased in order to undertake the actual building activities. The resources and their corresponding costs are illustrated in the table below. When the final cost of resources is combined with the cost of resources the project manager is able to come closer to the actual cost of the project. Various Resource Schedules in the form of Gantt Charts The acquisition of resources such as the purchase of materials will be conducted based on a schedule son that the project sponsor is not burdened to fund all the resources at once. In order to determine the precedence in which resources will be scheduled, the following Gantt Char will be used. Also develop an “S” curve using the software When the budget forecast for the activities of the project is combined with the cost of resources to be used, a comprehensible budget will be obtained that shows the actual cost of the entire project from the beginning to the end. The totals of comprehensive budget will be a combination of the totals from table 5 and table 7. The S-curve will be obtained to determine the progress of the project execution. An example of S-curve to be used is as illustrated below. Figure 7. S-Curve that will enable understanding of the progress of the project. Other Relevant Reports to Support the PEP An example of a relevant report that will support the PEP is the creation of the overall achievements in various stages of the project and testing the operational effectiveness of the building and providing an overall rating. Thus, the areas that have lower ratings will be easily improved while the areas with higher ratings will be concluded and the client will be provided with the assurance that the building meets his requirements and is safe for use. A report from a commissioning organization will also be provided to the building owner to show that the organization approves the use of the building for the purpose intended by the owner.
